Book Review
6 April 2015
Hey guys, I decided to do two book reviews today. Actually I've done them before so i'm just typing them here. Yes, I love reading books haha, it's one of my hobbies. I have a mini library at home alright? HAHA alright, enough chit-chat, lets head straight to the point ya?
Book Title: Shattered Souls
Author: Mary Lindsey
Setting: Lenzi is a reincarnated speaker and Alden is a reincarnated protector. Both of them work for the ICs. The both of them has been together for many CYCLES. However this time, Lenzi doesn't recall a thing. WHY?!
Plot: The story is about a girl named Lenzi (aka Rose). She is a speaker, a person which can communicate with the dead that lingers around Earth. Her job is to help these souls fulfil their last wish to let them move on. Since young, Lenzi has been hearing voices saying "help me" all the time. She thought she was going crazy just like her father whom suffered from mental illness. To be precise, the voices she heard were from the souls. They were tring to call for her and her 'boyfriend' Zak cannot do anything to help as he is just an ordinary human. One day, Lenzi met Alden, the boy in her 'dreams'. Alden is a protector, a person which protects the speaker. Alden and Lenzi were partners for many cycles. Lenzi would also meet Smith, an evil malevolent. Smith tries to take over Rose's body and force Lenzi's soul out and kill her. Lenzi must choose her own path wisely, accept her role or not? Save the world or not? To be or not to be, that is the question.
My reflection: This is a really good book. Awesome story line, brings me to their world and it reminds me of anime/manga as usually they have awesome story lines. I totally did not expect a fiction storybook to be written that well for such fantasy story. I was drawn into the amazing story. I rate it 4/5
Notice: PS: Take note that my rating is very lenient, it depends on what I like. I love all genres so usually my ratings for the books are quite high.
Book title: Keeping Faith
Author: Jodi Picoult
Setting: When the marriage of Mariah White and her cheating husband Colin, turns ugly and disintegrates, their seven-year old daughter, Faith, is there to witness it all. In the aftermath of a rapid divorce, Mariah falls into a deep depression and suddenly Faith, a child with no religious background whatsoever, hears divine voices, starts reciting biblical passages, and develops stigmata.
Plot: It is about Faith, this little girl that ever since her parents divorced, has been seeing God or I should say, God has been seeing her. She claims that her 'friend' (god) is a female. When she did the impossible, such as reviving Millie Epstein whom was announced dead for an hour and curing a boy who has AIDs, she has been interviewed by many religious heads. That is when Ian, the great disbeliever of God began doubting his theories. "What if I'm wrong? What if God really does exists?" However, Ian finds himself lost of words to defend his theory as he fell in love with Mariah and could not possibly go against her daughter as it would be a sign of betrayal. This was when Colin, decided to change things around by suing Mariah of child abuse so that he could gain full custody of Faith. When Faith starts showing signs of stigmata, it freaked the hell out of Ian, Colin and Mariah. Colin accuses Mariah of child abuse. With world renowned lawyer Metz with Colin, would Mariah win? When Faith revives her supposedly dead grandmother Millie, the press never stops questioning. Mariah brought Faith along to kansas city but, was it for the better? Would God be with Faith forever? Why is God even talking to her? The question is not why but why not.
My reflection: An awesome read! I personally love Picoult's books. She always have interesting stories up her sleeves. for this book, the story makes you wonder about God. And that's a rare moment in modern fiction. This makes us question, 'does god even exists?' Especially when Ian, the disbeliever in God, proves his countless theories which made so much sense that could brainwashed christians. "People believe in god because they don't have any other explanations for things that happen." I personally am not a christian, I'm a buddhist. However, all religions have gods. Think of it my way when you read this book: Do you believe in YOUR God? Does YOUR GOD even exists? Do YOU stillBELIEVE after reading this book?
Rating: 5/5
Alright that's all for this post.
