Welcome to a new chapter of my life
Hey lovelies, I'm back after a long hiatus! Exams are over though I must say that I pretty much screwed up everything but it's okay, what matters is that I tried my best (I think). I didn't have an opportunity to brag about my long permed brown hair so here is a picture of it!
I know, it suits me right? HAHA, I really love this hair and I miss it a hell lot already. I have permed it for almost 5 months already before I chopped it off and got a complete makeover. Now my current hair looks like this: (I don't know if you can see the colour but a clearer picture will be below, so continue reading!! FYI, the below picture was taken after 1 wash)
Anyway, basically I have been given my first ever sponsored experience this holidays. I was given an opportunity to get my new hairdo at the salon, Chapter 2! It is located in Plaza Singapura Basement 1 and it's just opposite the customer service, near Art Friend and the ascending and descending travelator.
I know the pictures aren't of the best quality but that's cause I own a horrible phone. Anyway, Chapter 2 is a sister company of Kimage and if some of you don't know Kimage, clearly you need to do some homework.
Moving on, as all of you should know, "Hair Contouring" is the newest hair trend/technique in the market by Loreal Professionals. "Hair Contouring" is basically a customised and tailored application technique that revolutionised the use of hair colour. This concept is actually inspired from our normal face makeup contouring. The innovation of "Hair Contouring" uses the discreet placement of colours around the face and a play of light and shadow. In a way, it's like highlighting some parts of your hair while just colouring the other parts of your hair with a mix of different colours. It is not one full solid colour or ombre colours. With hair contouring, it helps to shape our faces better by ensuring that the right hair colour fits our face. Usually, lighter colours help to highlight your face as well as elongate it like how it works with makeup, and darker colours help to create shadows on your face and narrow the face shape.
At first, I expected to just dye any colour I like but when my hairstylist, Ivan came up to me, he told me that they will be trying the "Hair Contouring" technique on me. Initially, I wanted a full ash purple hair look but then I wasn't quite sure if it would suit me. Hence, I consulted Ivan on what colours could suit me as I am rather tan and my face is small. Ivan then brought some catalogs to show me what the colours are like and also started giving me step by step guides. Firstly, he would look at my face shape and determined what kind of face shape for the kind of hairstyle and colour. Secondly, he would look at the skin tone which mine is obviously quite tan but not so bad, so I belong to the middle-tone range. Thirdly, he would look at the colour of my veins under my skin near my wrist. If it is green, it means that you're suitable for warm colours as your skin is a warm tone and if it is blue/purple then it means you're suitable for cool colours as your skin is a cool tone. If you have trouble telling, it is most likely the neutral tone and you're good for both cool and warm colours but of course, it depends on the degree of it.
After given an introduction to hair contouring and the steps taken to determine what colour suits me, I told him if I was still able to pull of ash purple and Ivan said "yeah, sure why not? But I'll add some more colours don't worry." Ivan is really nice like he kept saying like it's okay as long as you feel that you look good and he was really positive. He kept on telling me that purple will look fine on me as that was like, my major concern because I am really tan and I really want to pull it off. (Hair is extremely important for girls) Since it was my first time, I decided to give it my all and trust him all the way. The fate of my hair is in your care.
He told me that as my face is oval shaped, in order to elongate and bring out the contour, he would need to lighten the top of my hair not too much but pretty much like my current hair colour kind of brown. The tip of my hair will be of darker colours and the underneath of my hair will of a lighter tone and more grayish and Ashish. He also told me not to worry because my hair will be protected with "OLAPLEX" which is like hair protein, which will keep my hair healthy and less dry. This was also another major concern for me because, previously when I got my hair permed and dyed at the same time at a different salon, they did not tell me that it is harmful to the hair nor did they put anything to protect my hair. As a result, my hair was dry like hay. It was horrible though the perms look great on camera. I was so relieved to be told that my hair was going to be saved from all the dryness problems.
So, this is me after the first round of bleaching and a foundation colour on. It is quite interesting because he told me that he would not bleach my roots and used the same hair dye, he dyed the entire hair through but only the ends showed hints of purple. Interesting right? I never knew the secret behind this but it was the same when he was dye-ing the purple dye onto my hair. Using the same dye, he dyed my roots and I thought to myself 'Yay, I am going to have ash purple hair' but in the end, no. The base colour was still brown but the funny thing is that with the same dye, the other parts of my hair turned out with different colours! So cool and interesting omg.
The staffs here are really nice, do not be afraid to ask for Wi-Fi password as well when you visit them alright? They serve you drinks and you can keep your valuables in their lockers. They are so approachable and friendly and chatty that you will never be bored. The only bad thing is that there is no toilet in the salon so, when you have to go to the toilet, you basically go like this:
I know what you're all thinking, so embarrassing right? Everyone was staring at me, god they need to stop else they're going to stare a hole through my head. Anyway, bottom line is that I was rather satisfied with the end product as I didn't expect myself to pull off such bright colours. Never in my life would I have imagined me with blue hair okay? Ivan was so nice to even darken the colours near the roots because he knows that such vibrant colours won't last long and fades easily, so he did me the favour of darkening the tips so that the colour fades slower and the colour remains longer. Therefore, after sitting in the salon for 6 hours here is the end product!!
