SENTOSA!!

30 August 2017

Hi all, I have so much to update all of you. I've been on a long hiatus, I know. The girl has been really busy alright? HAHA. Please continue reading my blog because there is so much to talk about but I will probably be able to write again 2 weeks later or so. My schedule is so packed. I'm going to update you guys about me being in Faves, a book review on a recent book that I've finished, and a movie review on Annabelle 2 (I rate this 5/10). So, stay tuned alright!!!
Anyway, today's post is about Sentosa's 45th Anniversary!! Can I disclaim first that this is not sponsored. I hate it when people keep saying things like I write my blog because I'm sponsored and all, but I'm telling you, I was only invited down to the event to take photos and stuff like that alright? Writing this post is not a thing I'm obliged to do. Anyway, we will get to this point in my next blog post or something, depending on my mood, which post I would like to write first haha.
I believe that most of you would not have known this if I hadn't told you but, Sentosa is kickstarting their 45th Anniversary celebration with the International Sand Sculpting Competition. This competition features 14 sand masters from around the globe. The sculpting for the competition will take place from 28 to 31 August 2017. Entrance for the public will only be from 1st September to 17th September 2017. From 4-10 September 2017, local residents can enjoy FREE ENTRY into Sentosa via  the Sentosa Express and Sentosa Gantry! If you think that you will only be seeing 14 different sand sculptures then you are wrong. There is another 15 more sand sculptures in Zone 1.

Getting a little confused?
This event is known as Sandsation. Basically, the event is split into 3 different zones.
  • Zone 1 also known as 'Singapore Ho Say!', features 15 3-D sand sculptures inspired by local culture, quirks and colloquial slangs. Not only will you see them, you can hear them as well. The multi-sensory exhibition incorporates impressive sand visuals with audio elements, bringing the 3-D sculptures to life. These sculptures took about 10 days to finish and each sand master was assigned to one of them.
  • Zone 2 is the International Sand Sculpting Competition area, featuring all 14 sand sculptures constructed by 14 world-renowned sand masters.

  • Zone 3 is called the 'Shifiting Sand 2'. In the last zone, JOOHeng will commemorate his 20th year of transforming ordinary sand into incredible artworks. It showcases the interactive art pieces by JOOHeng and also, an exclusive zone specially for Sentosa Islanders to take photographs with. This showcase also pays homage to his first solo exhibition held at Sentosa's Palawan Beach back in 2010.
